Programs & Initiatives

Operation SHECARES

SheCARES is our unique veteran’s initiative which depends on the goodwill of our donors and volunteers who wish to give something back to America's heroes. This unique program, provides women veterans with one of our “Rucksacks” filled with basic and essential personal hygiene products and toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste.  We partner with programs and organizations that already successfully serve homeless veterans to make sure the personal care products are distributed most efficiently and effectively.

Fatigues to Corporates Workshop:

Workshops dedicated to helping women veterans prepare for jobs by assisting them with skills needed to secure a job, retain their new positions, succeed in the mainstream workplace as well as other helpful career tips to present themselves in the best possible light during job interviews. The skills taught during these workshops will assist them in completing their resume, doing mock interviews, exploring career options, and preparing for the workforce.

Attend this workshop to stay abreast of the latest trends in job searching. Attendees will learn how to effectively network with employers, create a polished résumé, how to construct a stand out cover letter and innovative ways to seek and find meaningful employment.

Wall Locker:

You only get one chance to make a first impression!  The clothes you choose to wear act as unspoken information about you which people use to formulate their impressions, so it’s important to get it right the first time. She S.E.R.V.E.D Inc., provides gently used or new job interview attire to our women veterans who are seeking employment in the civilian sector. Donations of suits, business attire, shoes and accessories (new and gently used), time, and financial support are all accepted!

Rally Point:

We believe that the most important steps towards a Veteran’s road to recovery are the support and interaction with those who have shared military service. That’s why we offer weekend-long retreats where female Veterans can enjoy relaxing activities such as yoga and meditation, while interacting with other Veterans. Guest speakers and interactive workshops also help attendees understand and express their views on the “new normal” of life and provide them with opportunities to discover effective adjustment strategies. Additionally, the exposure to coping skills and education within a group setting instills camaraderie among our veterans.

Our goals are to help the Veteran lead a better life and offer information for recognizing symptoms and triggers of military-related occupational stress injuries. With other Veterans, participants build networks of friendship and support for the real world. The retreats offer group support that provides Veterans with an outpouring of peer support network afterwards. The staff and volunteers of our retreats are experienced veterans, DOD/VA experts, local service/support providers and community members. The location and times of the "Rally Points" will be announced throughout the year.
